Datamanagement isn't for the faint of heart. One error, and you might lose a day's worth of work. Luckily, there's software to help you!
Quine has been around for a while and is best known for their QuineCore package, offering service to hundreds of productions over the past few years.
Recently, they released QuineCopy which offers safe and secure backup and transcoding capabilities. Yes, you read it correctly: FREE!
We’ve seen software from other companies doing similar things, but up until now, those have been paid software only. This has been a hurdle for some smaller productions, as the cost of these types of specialty software is often not something they want to deal with.
What's the catch?
There is no catch, QuineCopy is free to use. No trial period, no limitations, no file size restrictions, … Just free!
Of course, they aren’t doing this because they feel producers spend too much on offloading software. QuineCopy is a perfect example of Quine’s capabilities. By offering this product for free, they might convince a production to use their QuineCore service, streamlining the whole chain.
What does it do?
QuineCopy will ingest your data and securely transfer it to one or more destinations. Not only will it copy, but it will also run a checksum (MH5, XXHASH) to verify every byte is copied correctly.
You also have the option to create an MHL file that will travel with the data, reassuring you that the data hasn’t been altered since the initial offload.
QuineCopy also offers a transcoding function. Rather than building the engine from scratch, the software will use your Davinci Resolve package as the backbone for this feature. To use it, you’ll need to create a preset that the software will detect automatically.
It requires minimal effort to create this preset and a small price to pay to keep this software free!
